All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. ~ 2 Corinthians 12:10

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. ~ Psalm 37:4

**

Here are two delights that are two sides of the same coin. You will never delight yourself in the Lord, unless your first know your limitations. You will never rely on Him through His grace until you come to the end of yourself. The more you delight yourself in Jesus and walk closer to Him, the more you are aware of your sins and shortcomings.

When Paul discovered this golden nugget, he begin delighting in his weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and difficulties because he realized that these were the very doorways through which God will walk with His sufficient grace which he never would have known otherwise. He did not obsess over these things; but he proclaimed them, to pass on the revelation to his Jesus-family and to encourage them of the rainbow beyond the storm. It all depends on whether or not the deepest desires of your heart are encompassed in your drawing closer to the Lord.

Sometimes we hear this worldly praise: "He didn't have an enemy in the world. No one ever had a bad word to say about him." Then that person never stepped out of the boat to be bold for Christ, delighting purely in Him. All you have to do is live as Jesus lived, and you will eventually incur some of the same SEEMINGLY negative things He did. But Paul also said, " I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the FELLOWSHIP of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead" (Philippians 3:10-11).

One wise writer observed, "Anyone who walks close to the Commanding Officer should expect occasionally to to be hit by bullets aimed at Him." What an honor!
