The Healing Light of His Glory
God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light ~ 1 Timothy 6:15-16
As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. ...Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. ~ Acts 9:3,8
His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. ~ Revelation 1:16

Today, I had a laser treatment for my eye problem that has been bothering me since last November. As the doctor gave the treatment, the light was so brilliant, as to be almost painful, even though they had "deadened" the eye. I couldn't help but think of the intensity of being in the presence of Almighty God, Who is pure Light, also a description of Jesus, Who IS God, with his humanity only filtering His pure Light. (See John 1:5,9; John 3:19-21, Matthew 17:2.)
Here's the kicker: whether it be Paul, John, or the three disciples on the Mount of Transfiguration, they ALL had clearer spiritual vision after being in the Presence of the Pure Light of God. Just as the doctor's laser treatment is meant to help my vision, so is God's Presence meant to help us in our spiritual vision, even through the pure light of His Word (Psalm 119:30, 105; John 1:1-5).
