Paul: For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel--not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power....For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. ~ 1 Corinthians 1:17, 2:2

I believe that it was the delightful G. K. Chesterton who imagined an adventurer-explorer who left England to discover a new land. After many months, the captain came through the fog and landed upon a craggy shore, teary-eyed at the wonder of it all, only soon to realize that he had rediscovered England.
The early apostles had nothing to rediscover. They proclaimed the Gospel, raw and Spirit-sharpened (Hebrews 4:12-13). They did not have to repackage it, reinvent it, re-anything it. They had no resources but God and His Word. They felt no need to jump onto any bandwagon trend, because there was none.
How did they do?
