Whenever we worry about anything on earth to the point where it becomes a fear, it has become an obsession. Have you ever heard the saying, "We will realize our worst fears."?
2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Whenever we become obsessed with anything, it has become our god. And for those of us who are God's children, our loving Father will have no gods before Him in our lives.
God wants to be the only object of our obsession. He will not allow us to become so obsessed with anything in this world that we would care more about it than we trust Him for!
He will not allow His children to have any false gods. He will not allow any of the things of this world to be more important to us than He is.
Whenever we look to any other thing for our fulfillment and joy in life other than to Him, he will not likely let us have it. He is faithful to us! He will not allow us to have and hold the object of our obsession. He insists, for the sake of our own unquenchable joy, to always stay focused on Him and His grace and goodness.
Fear and doubt about our Father's love for us and His ability to take care of us are what prevent God from blessing us in whatever we try to do. In this way, whenever we become obsessed with the outcome of anything to the point of being fearful that the outcome will not meet our expectations, then it has become an obsession, a false god, a false idol. Then we are serving the enemy.
Then whatever we fear will likely come to pass. We will realize our worst fears.
And He will not allow us to think we can puppeteer Him or manipulate Him into giving us whatever we become obsessed with having. He is not our bellboy. He is not at our beckon call to give us what we want, when we want it.
Jas 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. (in this verse I read "your lusts" to mean "your obsessions")
But if we will simply trust Him and rest in Him completely, and keep our Joy in Him always, then we will never become obsessed or fearful about any outcome of any circumstances in our lives. And only then is He free to give us what we ask, and will often give us much more or much better than we ask.
"God is ready to assume full responsibility for the life wholly yielded to Him." - Andrew Murray
We, God's children, have nothing to fear in this life, as long as we keep our eyes on Him and do our reasonable best, and trust Him with the rest. Then He is free to bless us by granting us the desires of our hearts. If we don't trust His love and promises to us, then we are calling Him a liar, yes?
Heb 3:12-14 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God...For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end
If we really trust Him completely with our lives, which we should, we will not fear the outcome of any circumstance, because we will KNOW He loves us and wants the best for us, and that He is in full control of every detail of every circumstance in our life. Then we will simply ask Him our desire and then release it to him freely and forget about it, knowing it's in His capable hands.
MK 11:23-24 "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you."
Trust Him and rest completely in His perfect and unfailing promises.
Jesus told us not to worry about tomorrow, not to be anxious about anything. So we are free to not worry. We are free to not be anxious or fearful.
MT 6:33-34 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Phil 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
When you pray for something, anything, and trust that He hears you and believe that you already have His perfect answer to your prayer, and do not doubt or fear, then you will be truly free to not worry, not be anxious, not be fearful about the outcome.
Then you will be truly free to go on your joyful way, and He will be free to bless you with the desires of your heart!
PS 37:4-5 Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
