All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Do not hide Your Face from me when I am in distress. Turn Your Ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly. ~ Psalm 102:2

**

Does this sound familiar? Most of us have either prayed this or harbored some of these thoughts in our hearts. We are in dire circumstances, charged with high emotion: we feel God is hiding His Face from us, and we want our prayers answered now or sooner. It's a natural human reaction, but as we grow in our faith, we can choose to remember some things.

GOD'S FACE IS ALWAYS TOWARD HIS CHILDREN. For the writer of Psalm 102, and even for us, it is like complaining that the sun has turned its face from us when it is cloudy. It is still there, bright as always, warm as always, powerful as always; it is just that the clouds of circumstances and emotion--even sin--have made it seem that God's Face has turned away. Faith emboldened by God's powerful Word (Hebrews 4:12-13) is like radar and cuts through the clouds when the sun can't be seen or felt. However, if we don't combine His Word with faith, it will be of no value to us (Hebrews 4:2).

GOD'S TIMING IS PERFECT. His ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8). He is always helping and always protecting and always providing in our time of trouble, even when we can't "see" it (Psalm 46:1). Our Jesus-made gift of faith, when exercised, can lift us beyond time and space (Hebrews 11:1). Even more, we learn the benefits of seeking God and of praising Him, even in difficult times (Psalm 103:1-5).

Take courage...supernatural courage enabled in you through Christ.
