This is a study of Gods Word concerning the source; importance; meaning; and application of the teachings about Love.
The verses from Mat 22:34-40 and the first three verses of I Cor 13 (together) had been on my mind for some time before I attempted to prepare this study. It seemed like the Lord would not let me rest with the relevance of this subject in relation to the teachings of the church.
While you will find many loving churches that teach subjects relating to love, you will not find man…

Do you have a Bible?
Many of us will say, "Yes, I have a number of Bibles on my bookshelf."
And some will say, "No, but I want one so much."
But I have another question....
DO YOU HAVE GOD'S WORD?
The Bible is a wonderful possession, and full of wonderful truths,
but what good would all that be to us if i…

We've all heard the objection:
"But it was written by men and translated, so how can we know it's true?"
Of course, it's God's Word and it's the Truth, and we of faith believe it. In fact, it is the ONLY fully reliable, completely infallible source of Truth in the world, written by the Master and Creator of the Universe Himself. It is perfect. No one has ever found a single error in it, though many very intelligent people have tried very hard over the years, most of whom have become beli…

"Is Christ divided?" (1 Corinthians 1:13)
"That they
all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also
may be one in us:
that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." (John 17:21, KJV, emphasis added)
As we know, Jesus will be coming and probably very soon to unite with His bride, the Body of Christ. I believe He is in the process right now of preparing His bride, and I believe this message is one of the many things He is doing to accomplish t…

It is truly spring outside today. The birds are singing, the crocus and tulips have been up for better than two weeks, and the colors are dazzling. Why, then, am I having such inner struggles? I started volunteering at a local hospital last week, and although newly joined, was nominated the Auxillary Club's new secretary for the next two years. I was the only person that seemed to have the interest and the energy of spirit for the job. It seems that only older women (and one man) feel the need t…

“14And when Jesus went into Peter's house, He saw his mother-in-law lying ill with a fever. 15He touched her hand and the fever left her; and she got up and began waiting on Him,” (Matthew 8:14-15).
The instant Jesus healed this woman, she began to serve Him. What an awesome servant’s heart. She didn’t simply beg for healing, express her gratitude, and then go about her way. She instantly got up and began serving Jesus, as if to say, “I would have served You sooner, Lord, but I was sick. Now th…

I heard from Todd yesterday that he wouldn't be home until the early morning hours of Saturday. I was bummed. I went to bed exhausted, from only God knows what, because I can't remember doing a single thing of use the whole day. When I awoke this morning I was still exhausted. I hit the snooze three times before getting up to take the girls to school. I woke my son up when I got back. He had an interview for a job this morning @ 10 and needed time to get ready. I wandered back to the living room…

Hello Elijah fans,
I did a study on the prayers of Elijah, I wanted to see how he prayed. He had such power when he prayed. God listened and answered his prayers. It seems like when he asked God in prayer, God would listen and answer his prayers. That is important, because in the word of God it says a rightous persons prayers will be " powerful and effective."
In 1 Kings 17:1-6 it said that Elijah said to Ahab, "As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor r…

I started this blog for any one interested in the study of the Bible. I myself did a study on Elijah and thought it was interesting how God worked in his life. The meaning of his name is the Lord is my God. I feel the same way too, the Lord is my God.
Elijah was a Tishbite he emerged as if from nowhere, to become Israel's greatest miracle-worker since Moses. This great prophet from the northern kingdom of Israel was empowered by God to battle the forces of Baal, the Canaanite god of storm, rain,…

“It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” (Psalm 118:8, Amp)
The next verse is similar:
“It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.” (v.9)
Say, isn’t that what the Bible is all about? Isn’t it so we will come to know our Maker and put our trust in the One who made us? Besides, He wrote the manual! He knows us, and He knows what is best for us….
…but…
…we stupid humans think that worldly wisdom a…

What is our hearts desire? Is it another person in our lives or something we desperately need? Why not ask God? He knows our heart and our desires. A desire for something or someone has attachments placed by emotion from inside us and when our hearts cry for love and desire to be accepted God hears us and answers us through our spirit.
Mark 11:24
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Psalm 10:17
LORD, thou ha…

Do you ever feel overwhelmed with a sickness you carry daily and feel God doesn't care or want to heal you? God is greater than our illness. God's amazing grace is available to those who humbly trust him. He cares deeply for us and even for the Kings and Generals that existed in the times of the Old Testament. Sickness is no respecter of persons it can strike anybody. Maybe you are struggling right now with an illness or know of someone who needs prayer for healing. Have you placed this illness…

Ever thought about how precious our blood is in our veins! Sometimes we neglect our bodies in our lifetime from the abuse of bad health choices or deterioration we seem to forget that our bodies are temples of God. He gives us life flowing with precious blood to feed our organs nourishment and because he gave his life for us and shed his blood for our transgressions how selfish we are to destroy our temple bodies that was given to us so freely and loving. But what about the Blood of Jesus? In 1…

Here's where I'm up to in James 3... (I'm using the New Living Translation this time.)
** WHAT IS WISDOM? **
Notice the two types of wisdom.
~~ Firstly, there is the
worldly wisdom, which James says is NOT God's kind of wisdom. And note the seven characteristics in the bold print...
"If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. (NKJ says "the meekness of wisdom".)
"But if you…

Isn't Bible knowledge is wonderful? I love it!! I love the Word, because it is God's personal letter to me. And I can tend to be a bit of a Bible freak!! I can't get enough of it!!
But here is something I've learned from from an online buddy, and he's always challenged me on this one.
When someone asks a question, it is so easy to give a pat answer, an answer from the Good Book. What I say probably does mean something to me (I've had a revelation on it), but to someone else, it can be just wor…

Jesus said:
"Do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ." (Mat 23:10)
What did He mean by that??
Obviously, there ARE teachers in the Church. Isn't it one of the spiritual gifts? We read in other parts of the Bible that God gave some to be teachers, along with apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastors. (See Eph 4:11.)
Perhaps the important word in what Jesus said is CALLED.
"Don't be CALLED teachers." God might place us in the role of teacher, but we mustn't fla…

Okay, back to James 3...
"My brethren, let not many of you become teachers..." (v1)
Why does James say that? What was he referring to? What does he mean?
Well, if we go back to chapter 2, we find he was addressing the problem of partiality. It would seem that those was a real problem with snobbiness. Those who had looked down on those who didn't have.
And seeing that they thought themselves better, they presumed they should teach those who were "less fortunate". And this is not how a true te…
