I saw your questions in the Prophecy post and felt the Lord wanted to answer those for you. The Lord has taught me that the letters to the churches are an abiding word and speak to a conditon that applies throughout the ages. Satan is always using those tactics to keep believers from standing in the good of all the finished work of Christ on Calvary. And the number 666 is "the number of man". Satan's ploy against the Church is to empower man to set out to do God's work so that "old serpent called the devil and satan" can usurp the throne of God. That is "where satans seat is". Thus you will see men trying to do the work of God in their own strength and wisdom. And that is why you also see so much vain-glory going on in what appears to be God's work. At least in the "visible" church. We all have that potential in us and satan will try to do that. And he does do that. But the way of safety is always the "Way of the Cross" and it's principal of self-denial. The Lord wants to make a great transition from one humanity to another. It is when we try to bring the old humanity into the work of God that we run into danger. The Lord tells us that "if any man will be my disciple, let him deny his "self" and take up his cross and follow me". This means that we need let the cross utterly slay all that is of the "old creation" and the life of the Spirit in resurrection power can come forth in and through us. If it is not Christ in me doing the work then it is a dead work. If it is not Christ in me leading the people then I am misleading the people. I hope you get the point. I have some good books that I would be willing to send to you for free concerning these things if you feel that you would like to continue to look further into it and move deeper into the heart of God.
