Writer
I'm here to...
help others grow in Christ, even as they help me grow (Prov. 27:17)
Interests:
Bible, prayer, misisons, writing, sports, reading
I'm passionate about...
loving my wife, pointing people to Jesus, giving Biblical counsel, praying for people, lay preaching, playing golf
My story with God
I was saved as a teen. However I did not grow. I strayed. I became a school teacher. Three of my students were killed in a wreck. God allowed that to crush me. He showed up at my home and reclaimed me. I've never been the same.
Other stuff about me:
I like witty humor and even bad puns. I like non-gory sci-fi. I like old radio comedy programs. I've always had a passion for baseball and golf. I've been a part-time sports journalist for over half my life. I have broadcast football and basketball on radio and internet. I've been on nine overseas mission trips: Romania (3), Russia (2), India, Ukraine, Paris, Jamaica, Trinidad. As a lay preacher, I've done a couple of short stints as interim at small churches. For five years, I've written daily Bible devotionals (Mon.-Fri.) for an e-mail list and my Christian web sites. I'm published author: two POD novels, many short stories in regional publications. I taught English and coached four sports over the years. OK, that's enough. :)

The Way to Blessedness in Daily Life

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything to the glory of God. ~ 1 Corinthians 10:31

**

It is possible. It is a matter of perspective and motivation. What is more basic than eating and drinking? The most fundamental activity can be for God's glory, if you recognize it as such, as can any service you perform, even delivering the drink for someone else (Matthew 10:42).

In good conscience, the defense lawyer can defend his client as Jesus speaks on the Father on our behalf;… Continue

Do You Have This? You Can

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. ~ 2 Corinthians 3:12

**

If we are not careful, we can motor through this verse, with a "yes, that's pretty," like driving through a quaint, pleasant village. However, let's pull over and visit for a short while.

Look at hope: she energizes Paul and his associates ("we"). Paul knows the God of hope Who overflows his life, filling him with all internal goodness and overflowing into action (Romans 15:13). Hope is greatest motivator; she is… Continue

Two Reasons

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. ~ Romans 1:16

You are the salt of the earth....You are the light of the world. ~ Matthew :13-14

**

After salvation, here are two reasons you are left on Earth: to bring to Heaven some in the world; to bring some Heaven into the world.

We Need the Best Doctor

Jesus said to them, "Surely you will quote this proverb to me: 'Physician, heal yourself!' " ~ Luke 4:23

**

You will not find this proverb in the Bible, because it is not a godly proverb. Jesus was quoting a witticism of man. Of course, America proclaims it as if it were Holy Scripture. For a half century, she has abandoned the old, ancient godly path and has taken the one in which she thinks she can solve all of her own problems, EXACTLY as rebellious Israel did (Jeremiah 6:16).

If a physici… Continue

Spirit-empowered Gospel

Paul: For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel--not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power....For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. ~ 1 Corinthians 1:17, 2:2

I believe that it was the delightful G. K. Chesterton who imagined an adventurer-explorer who left England to discover a new land. After many months, the captain came through the fog and landed upon a craggy shore, teary-ey… Continue

hello, this is the joke for today. i got this from the AAG forum-

WHAT'S A CHURCH?

A well-worn one-dollar bill and a similarly distressed twenty-dollar bill arrived at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired. As they moved along the conveyor belt to be burned, they struck up a conversation. The twenty-dollar bill reminisced about its travels all over the country.

"I've had a pretty good life," the twenty-dollar bill proclaimed. "Why I've been to Las Vegas and Atlantic City , the finest restaurants in New York , performances on Broadway, and even a cruise to the Caribbean "

"Wow!" said the one-dollar bill. "You've really had an exciting life!"

"So tell me," says the twenty-dollar bill, "where have you been throughout your lifetime?"

The one dollar bill replies, "Oh, I've been to the Methodist Church , the Baptist Church, the Lutheran Church."

The twenty-dollar bill interrupts, "What's a church?"

hello, here's a joke from janet walker of the US to cheer u up-

THE FISHERMAN

A guy is 72 years old and loves to fish.

He was sitting in his boat the other day when he heard a voice say,

'Pick me up.'

He looked around and couldn't see any one.

He thought he was dreaming when he heard the voice say again,

'Pick me up.'

He looked in the water and there, floating on the top, was a frog.

The man said, 'Are you talking to me?'

The frog said, 'Yes, I'm talking to you.

Pick me up then, kiss me and I'll turn into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen.

I'll make sure that all your friends are envious and jealous because I will be your bride!'

The man looked at the frog for a short time, reached over, picked it up carefully, and placed it in his front pocket.

The frog said, 'What, are you nuts? Didn't you hear what I said?
I said kiss me and I will be your beautiful bride.'

He opened his pocket, looked at the frog and said, 'Nah, at my age I'd rather have a talking frog.'

With age comes wisdom.
