Thankyou for this posting. It is very timely for me in that I was on the phone with a Christian friend of mine today and mentioned to her that God was not answering this particular prayer I had been praying. I recieved a timely scriptural reminder...

Do not hide Your Face from me when I am in distress. Turn Your Ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly. ~ Psalm 102:2 ** Does this sound familiar? Most of us have either prayed this or harbored some of these thoughts in our hearts. We are in d...

I'm here to...
help others grow in Christ, even as they help me grow (Prov. 27:17)
Interests:
Bible, prayer, misisons, writing, sports, reading
I'm passionate about...
loving my wife, pointing people to Jesus, giving Biblical counsel, praying for people, lay preaching, playing golf
My story with God
I was saved as a teen. However I did not grow. I strayed. I became a school teacher. Three of my students were killed in a wreck. God allowed that to crush me. He showed up at my home and reclaimed me. I've never been the same.
Other stuff about me:
I like witty humor and even bad puns. I like non-gory sci-fi. I like old radio comedy programs. I've always had a passion for baseball and golf. I've been a part-time sports journalist for over half my life. I have broadcast football and basketball on radio and internet. I've been on nine overseas mission trips: Romania (3), Russia (2), India, Ukraine, Paris, Jamaica, Trinidad. As a lay preacher, I've done a couple of short stints as interim at small churches. For five years, I've written daily Bible devotionals (Mon.-Fri.) for an e-mail list and my Christian web sites. I'm published author: two POD novels, many short stories in regional publications. I taught English and coached four sports over the years. OK, that's enough. :)

He Won't Give Up

How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? ~ Hebrews 2:3a

**

God makes sure that we cannot ignore it easily. Even though we live in the greatest age of diversions (e.g., media, entertainment, mobility, etc.), His salvation message slips through the cracks, wherever believers dwell. If we escape the church, He sends an individual believer to us. If we escape the individual believer, He sends our way something in print. If we escape the Gospel print, He sends our way something that… Continue

God's Inheritance

For the Lord's portion is His people, Jacob His allotted inheritance. In a desert land He found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; He guarded him as the apple of His eye, like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions. ~ Deuteronomy 32:9-11

**

It's the most touching, humbling truth: God sees US as His portion, His inheritance (Ephesians 1:18). Is this passage not one of the… Continue

Can You Dig It?

Sow righteousness, reap love. It's time to till the ready earth, it's time to dig in with God, until he arrives with righteousness ripe for harvest. Hosea 10:12 (The Message)

**

When I was working on my graduate degree, my Shakespeare teacher told the class a story. He suspected that the students in one class were not "digging in" either to his instruction or to the texts. He experimented. On the final, he offered a bonus question. He gave two quotes and asked which one was actually from Shake… Continue

The Organic andInorganic Saga

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. ~ 1 Peter 1:23

**

Humans are organic in that they live and develop, but also tend toward degeneration and death. (This is the result of sin. Not only has it led to the transiency of mankind [Romans 6:23], but also it has led to the "curse" on the earth and all living things. [See Genesis 3] ) As the Old Testament writers like to put it, man goes "the way of all the earth" (e.… Continue

It All Changes

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. ~ 2 Peter 3:13

**

Oldcastle’s webs snare new preys
As Newmen abandon old halls.
Newmen gallop toward new ways,
Away from Oldmen's siren calls.

Oldshadows seem dark in new ways;
Newmen chase sunward all nightfalls,
Slaying old evil that decays,
'Til Newday lights New… Continue

hello, this is the joke for today. i got this from the AAG forum-

WHAT'S A CHURCH?

A well-worn one-dollar bill and a similarly distressed twenty-dollar bill arrived at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired. As they moved along the conveyor belt to be burned, they struck up a conversation. The twenty-dollar bill reminisced about its travels all over the country.

"I've had a pretty good life," the twenty-dollar bill proclaimed. "Why I've been to Las Vegas and Atlantic City , the finest restaurants in New York , performances on Broadway, and even a cruise to the Caribbean "

"Wow!" said the one-dollar bill. "You've really had an exciting life!"

"So tell me," says the twenty-dollar bill, "where have you been throughout your lifetime?"

The one dollar bill replies, "Oh, I've been to the Methodist Church , the Baptist Church, the Lutheran Church."

The twenty-dollar bill interrupts, "What's a church?"

hello, here's a joke from janet walker of the US to cheer u up-

THE FISHERMAN

A guy is 72 years old and loves to fish.

He was sitting in his boat the other day when he heard a voice say,

'Pick me up.'

He looked around and couldn't see any one.

He thought he was dreaming when he heard the voice say again,

'Pick me up.'

He looked in the water and there, floating on the top, was a frog.

The man said, 'Are you talking to me?'

The frog said, 'Yes, I'm talking to you.

Pick me up then, kiss me and I'll turn into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen.

I'll make sure that all your friends are envious and jealous because I will be your bride!'

The man looked at the frog for a short time, reached over, picked it up carefully, and placed it in his front pocket.

The frog said, 'What, are you nuts? Didn't you hear what I said?
I said kiss me and I will be your beautiful bride.'

He opened his pocket, looked at the frog and said, 'Nah, at my age I'd rather have a talking frog.'

With age comes wisdom.
