- My story with God
- I was radically saved in 1988 when, in desperation in bed one night, I cried out to God to either take my life or take it over. I gave up trying to live life my own messed-up way and surrendered to Him.
What happened immediately afterwards for the next three hours was unquestionably supernatural: Scripture verses began pouring into my mind, one right after the other so fast I couldn't keep up with them. Then when it finally subsided, I got up and began going over some of them in my mind and the words of Jesus suddenly hit me, "...and whosoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."
I had heard that one enough times before, but this time the light suddenly came on, and it hit me: That's the key! It's that simple! "whosoever BELIEVES IN ME..." Period!
Afterwards, my heart was His. I had decided to put my faith and trust entirely in my Lord and Savior Jesus, and began learning about Him and drawing closer to Him. And I became thirsty to hear His Word.
Miraculously from that point on, without even realizing why yet, I found that I no longer had much use for partying, drugs, drinking, going to bars, or pornography any more. I was no longer lured by any of it. In the next few weeks or months, I had eventually quit all of them with very little struggle, without ever really wondering how or why. I had simply lost all desire for them.
It was years later that I understood it had been the work of the Holy Spirit in me that cleansed me of those things, and not my own strength of will at all! I can't imagine how I could have done it on my own, or whether I would have even tried. And the way I had been living, if I had continued, I doubt I would still be alive and conscious today.
Whatever I am today, Jesus certainly gets all the glory for!
- Other stuff about me:
- I've finally given in to what had become an irresistible urge to start writing. Now my first book, A Joyful Marriage Fortress, has been miraculously published! And I've already received contracts for my next two books which are nearly finished as well.
The glory for everything I've written is all God's - all I do is type it out. Honestly. Because whenever I re-read many of the things I've written, it still amazes me. I know I could not have come up with it on my own! I'm convinced that what I write are Holy Spirit inspired messages at His urging.
