Serving the Lord
My story with God
He has lifted me up from the depths of despair
Other stuff about me:
I laugh, I cry, I mourn, I appreciate life, God, Christ, my family, my friends. I am laid back, stressed out, and aging (smile).
A holy life is not an ascetic, or gloomy, or solitary life, but a life regulated by divine truth and faithful in Christian duty. It is living above the world while we are still in it. -- Edwards, Tryone
THE BUZZARD: If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.
THE BAT: The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.
THE BUMBLEBEE: A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.
PEOPLE: In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up! Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up!
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ who loves us.
Holidays are uppon us. this is the time of year I miss my son the most. I did feel his presence in the wind last evening. Just as I felt the presence of the Lord. He answers my prayers and gives me comfort in knowing James is in Gods hand. That is the most comforting thought of all.
I was reading a news article today re: a speech Sen. Obama made to a chritian group. Apparenty he quoted the Old Testament, then stated our defense dept couldnt live by the teachings of Christ at the sermon on the mount.
Of course I read the sermon on the mount after reading this article.
One Sunday night at church we discussed The doctine of Christ vs The Doctine of Man. How people take scripture and "change" the meanings to fit their life and their needs. It is what it is. I admit, I have to… Continue
This time last year I was sitting at home on a Friday night. I had dropped James off at his friend Cory's house around 4:30 pm. He gets out of my car and says 'Be on call mom in case I need ya" and he said "I love you" and closed the door. Thats the last time I ever spoke to him. I received a call around 9:30 pm that night. It was a woman, she said she didnt know me and I didnt know her and she then stated that my son had been envolved in a car accident in Homosassa and that the police were look… Continue
There are so may lost people out there who are crying for help and support through Christ our Lord. Most do not know how to pray, to ask for help. I am a prayer servant for a woman who is struggling with many hardships. I hope to help thousands. I know this is a great number but I have alwasy been one to shoot… Continue
The center chapter of the BIBLE is Psalm 118.. there are 594 chapters before and after Psalm 118
And if we will add this we will get 1188... in which the center verse of the BIBLE is PSALM 118:8
What is the significant of Psalm 118:8 in God's perfect will for our lives?
It is better to trust in the LORD, than to put confidence in man.-- Psalm 118:8
When things get tough, always remember faith doesn't get you around trouble..
it gets you through it!
When you relinquish the desire to control your future you obtain happiness...
Prayer:
Father God, bless my friend in whatever it is that you know he/she may be needing this day....
May their life be full of your peace, prosperity and power as they seek to have closer relationship with you. Amen...
1 Thessalonians 1
1Paul, Silas[a] and Timothy,
To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
Grace and peace to you.[b]
Thanksgiving for the Thessalonians' Faith
2We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. 3We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
4For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. 6You became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. 7And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8The Lord's message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, 9for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
