THE FINAL CUP by James Lindquist

THE FINAL CUP
Seven seasons in our relationships

The image used for the front cover is that of the Upper Room, where Jesus had His Last Supper with His Disciples and drank of the first cup of communion with them.

But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in My Fathers kingdom.
Matthew 26:29

With 26-27% of Christian marriages ending in divorce, if ever there was a time for marital help, now is the time. The Final Cup leans toward marriage, but people contemplating the bonds of matrimony or even a simple relationship should find this book helpful. With constant attacks perpetrated by the enemy against the family, especially in these days, the stability of this country, even the world, is threatened.

All truth is parallel. For every natural truth, there is a corresponding and parallel spiritual truth. If we are to grow in both, we must learn where we are in both. The Lord gave Jim seven words and showed him that we all have seasons in our relationships. So follow along and study with him through these parallels and through the seasons in our relationships that the Lord imparted to him one Sunday afternoon.

I just uploaded the E-book version of The Final Cup. You can find it at my Website at http://www.jameslindquist.net/htmfiles/ebibles.htm. For all of my AAG friends and any one else on AAG, I offer this for FREE. I pray that it blesses you. It is an earlier version when I had no idea of how to write.

Since then I have just about finished my Journeyman's level of writing school (CWG - Christian Writers Guild). I am in the process of rewriting The final Cup now. When I finish I will let you know and upload the new version. The basic premise in the old version is still in tact, however, but there are some grammatical errors in it. So if you're a school teacher, I apologize. But, the price is right.

In my rewrite, I plan on removing much material and will make the theme more focused and specific with no tangents. (That's hard for me. LOL.) I also plan on fixing all the grammatical errors for my teacher friends. (LOL.)

God bless you all. I pray that The Final Cup helps you in your relationship(s).

SEEKING GOD’S WILL: Hearing God

When I first sat down to write Seeking God’s Will, before I had even committed one word to paper, God gave me a vision. I was on this side of a large gully and a man was standing on the other side. I could faintly hear his mumbling echo, but I couldn’t understand a word he was saying.

I thought, Lord, what is this? What does this mean? I heard in my spirit, “If you w… Continue

SEEKING GOD: Calling out to God

The footsteps behind him were unrelenting and he was running as fast as he could. His lungs felt like they would explode at any moment, yet the swish of footsteps in the grass that followed him, didn’t lose a beat. In fact, they seemed to be closing the gap. Mere exhaustion would soon force him to stop and face his stalker no matter what the outcome. His heart raced and thre… Continue

SEEKING GOD’S PURPOSE: Treasure Hunters

The sky was a little overcast as he walked down the road, a road that was more like a small path winding itself through the countryside. At least he had a heavy tunic that shielded him from the evening air. As long as he made it to Jericho before the Sabbath [1], he’d be alright, for this wasn’t the safest stretch of road in the land.

From out of nowhere, three men… Continue

FIGHTING OFF INVADERS

Praise God in all things [1]. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. . .Yes, even when we’re sick and down, give praise unto Jesus.

Being physically sick is a good thing because temperature is the body’s way of fighting off the invaders of our body. Thank you Jesus because you have fearfully and wonderfully made us [2]. Our bodies work exactly like you have p… Continue

SEEKING GOD’S HEART: The Courtship of God

The evening was a typically beautiful and peaceful night. A small breeze was blowing and seemed to be following a previous gust that had already passed through. David sat leaning against a tree trunk playing his harp and singing psalms to God and to his father’s sleeping sheep. His eyelids were getting a little heavy in the tranquility of the moment and he could probably drift off himself if not for the fact that the sheep were… Continue

SEEKING GOD'S FACE: The Characteristics of God

My divorce was an extremely hard time in my life and if I ever needed God, it was then. At that time I was living in a one-bedroom apartment and I’d just made a new commitment to pray with God for one hour each day. Therefore, at 4:00 AM, I crawled out of bed, got dressed, and went to the front room to fellowship with the Lord.

I was praying the Lord’s Prayer and had just hallowed His name. I stood there waiting on His re… Continue

SEEKING GOD'S HANDS:God's Provision

Not long ago, I went to the beach for some much-needed R&R. I checked into the Proposal Rock Inn at Neskowin, Oregon, unpacked, and immediately headed for the wet hard sand.

I stood there in awe and overlooked the ocean as the tide slowly but surely encroached on the land, devouring it inch by inch only to recede leaving the shoreline looking as though there was never an invasion of water.

For centuries, the sea has drawn many… Continue

Face to Face with God

I was divorced and living in a one-bedroom apartment, feeling confused and alone. It was a hard time in my life but I had always loved the Lord and been very close to Him. I needed Him now more than ever.

On this particular morning the alarm had just zapped me with its wake-up call so I needed to get up and ready for work. I didn’t normally get up at 4:00AM but I had recently made a new commitment to pray with God for one hour each day. I crawled out of bed, got dressed, and went to the front r… Continue

IT TAKES MORE THAN LOVE

Nineteen years ago, the wife and I sat in a pastor’s office enumerating our woes as wounded partners in an injured marriage of twenty-three years. As we poured out our hearts to him, he patiently sat there listening to every word. I told him that I loved my wife but I was beginning to doubt her love for me and that we were beginning to drift apart.

After I’d finished, he reached into his back pocket and retrieved his wallet. He opened it up, thumbed through a couple denominations, and finally w… Continue

WHAT'S IMPORTANT?

A while back, I watched a 1998 movie, Deep Impact, with Robert Duvall and Tea Leoni. The movie was about an asteroid, the size of New York that was heading for Earth in true “Armageddon style.”

To save the Earth, America decided to send up a spaceship to destroy the monstrous asteroid. . .but they failed. They did, however, succeed in busting up the asteroid into two pieces: one smaller piece, and another larger piece, but both of them were still heading for Earth.

With the Earth's dest… Continue

I'm passionate about...
Writing for my Lord. I believe He called me to do so. I believe we can find the will of God for our lives in our passions.
My story with God
I am a sixty-six year old single Christian man and have loved the Lord most all of my life and although I fell away for a spell, I feel I am back on track. I give all the praise and glory to the One Who saved me, Jesus Christ.

I have seen and learned a lot of things during this time on earth, some of which, I still even remember. This is what I hope to accomplish in this community: to pass on those things that I have seen, learned, and remember - only in a spiritual and biblical context through my blog.

I believe that the Lord called me to write and to that end, I have published a nonfiction book titled, The Final Cup. Its theme is horizontal and vertical relationships with emphasis on Christ.

I am in the process of a second draft on my second nonfiction book, The Rose of Sharon. It has the same theme but the emphasis is on the Bride of Christ.

I plan to also rewrite my first book after completing my studies at Christian Writers Guild out of Colorado. I am just about through with my Journeyman level of teaching. Jerry Jenkins is the owner and President of CWG. Fantastic school and staff.

I pray that some of the things the Lord has shown me throughout the years, will, in some way, help my fellow brothers and sisters. With this in mind, I hope to post at least one blog a week every Monday in hopes that those postings will bless and help you in your daily lives.

Please feel free to comment and if this is content that interests you, I invite you to follow my weekly postings. God bless you all and thanks for visiting me here at my little corner of the Web.

I Thank you Lord for caring enough about me to never leave me and to always love me although I am undeserving of that love.

God bless you all.
Other stuff about me:
I enjoy walking on the beach, building Websites (for fun), hiking, and researching different cultures and then traveling there - when possible, finances permitting. I love music and used to play in a band (many years ago).
