- I am the only daughter of my parents. My father is a Pastor and my mother took her college in a bible school. I grew up in a church. I've been hearing about Jesus ever since I was a child in Sunday schools, camps, etc. I have learned that Christ is the Son of God and the only way to God. I also learned that one must receive Christ to have eternal life. I have been receiving Christ a number of times but it was just out of fear for I don't want to go to hell when I die.
During our summer vacation, a group of missionaries came to visit our church. One of them approached me and asked if I know where I would go if I die. She told me that Jesus loves me and that I just need to put my trust in Him. She said Jesus wants to save me from my sins and give me eternal life. It was then that I sincerely accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord.
Not long after I received Christ into my life, I found out that I was an adopted child. I was shocked when I learned that I was not the real daughter of the people I thought to be my real parents. I was carrying a name that was not really mine. It took some time for me to accept things. I was ashamed of the fact that I was adopted. But later I realized that God must have really loved me because He placed me in a family where I was accepted and even gave me new parents who loved me just as their own.
As I reflected on it, a verse in the Bible came to my mind that says, " But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, " Abba! Father!" Therefore, you are no longer a slave, but a son; if a son, then an heir through God."
God has adopted me as His child. He has chosen me. And now, I am not ashamed to say that I was adopted. In fact, I am even more grateful because my Heavenly Father not only gave me a new name but my future is also secure since He has blessed me with a sure inheritance in His family.
