All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I heard someone once say, start a fire and everyone will come to watch it burn.
Revival is much like forest fire that consumes everything in its path, but it start as one spark that becomes a flame that becomes a fire.
First we have to ignite the flame in each of us by surrendering ourselves to God.
Here am I, All of me. Take my life, It's all for thee.
Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.
Take my voice and let me sing always, only for my king.
Take my lips and let them be filled with messages from thee.
Take my silver and my gold not a might would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use every power as you choose.
Take my will and make it Thine it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord I pour at your feet its treasure store
Take myself and I will be ever, only all for thee,
Take myself and I will be ever, only all for thee.
Here am I, All of me.
Take my life, It's all for thee.

Revival does start in the heart of each individual... I agree. It must also be wrought in unity among the members of the body if it is to be effective.

Lawsy40 you are right, I believe that once the individual has been revived the out working of personal revival will be unity.
In the book of Acts1-2 we see this happening after Pentecost all the believers continued together in close fellowship and shared their belongings with one another.
Those who are continually being controlled by the Holy Spirit will gravitate to others and will not be self seeking, but will endeavor to cultivate unity in the Body of Christ. So as each of us allows the Lord to cultivate our hearts, we will become unified with one another.

Personal revival starts in the presence of the Lord as we open our hearts and pour our worship out to Him. The word says to draw near to Him and he will draw near to us. We can come boldly to the throne of grace now because of the work of Christ. It is our greatest privilege to give worship to our God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Personal revival is an out working of being in the presence of the Lord.

DO WE REALLY WANT REVIVAL?
Revival will not come to a self-satisfied church.
The church at Laodicea claimed that it was rich and had need of nothing (Revelation 3:17). God could not bless this church until it was willing to acknowledge its need and fall before Him in true repentance. He waits to bless the church that will humble itself before Him and seek His face.
Dr. R. A. Torrey said, "I can give a prescription that will bring a revival to any church or community or any city on earth. The prescription is as follows:
First, let a few Christians (they need not be many) get right with God themselves. This is a prime essential. If this is not done, the rest of what I say will come to nothing.
Second, let them bind themselves together in a prayer group to pray for a revival until God opens the heavens and comes down.
Third, let them put themselves at the disposal of God, for Him to use as He sees fit in winning others to Christ. That is all!"
Torrey said that following the steps named above is sure to bring a revival to any church or community. He explained that many churches and many communities tried this prescription and in no instance has it ever failed.
God says, "if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven; and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Will the church hear the call to repentance and revival, or will it remain in a state of self-sufficiency and complacency?
. The Holy Spirit will revive the church which diligently seeks His fullness. Let each one of us pray, "Lord, send a mighty revival, and let it begin in me."

What happens when revival to come to the Church? So far in this discusion we have stated;
1. Revival start in each of us in the Church.
2. It must also be wrought in unity among the members of the body if it is to be effective.
3. Personal revival starts in the presence of the Lord as we open our hearts and pour our worship out to Him
4. Dr. R.
5. Revival will come easy and fast to those that gather where the truth is spoken in complete context.
6. Revival will come to the Church as each of us learned to live our lives santified unto the Lord for his purposes.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, "For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor;"

Charles Billingsley "Lord Have Mercy"

II Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Nathan DiGesare, Dan Scott

In peace we come to pray and seek the Lord today
For salvation from his hand for the healing our land
Let us pray , let us pray

Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy
For we have placed all our hope in Thee
For our sin we repent
Oh Lord, we believe your Holy Word

Have mercy Lord we pray
Take all our sin away
Kyrie Criste

Repeat Chorus

If you would mark iniquity
Oh Lord who would stand
But mercy like a fountain flows from Thy hand

I am allowing my circumstances to change me, I worked in an institution where I had to learn self defense years ago and I never forgot what we were taught about protecting our selves from attack, instead of blocking a punch we would pull them toward us and the attacker would loose balance and we would get control of him. I am learning to do this when I am bombarded with negative circumstances. I think this is how revival begins in our hearts. It is a faith act to believe any circumstance that comes our way will be used by God because all things work for the good for them who love God and are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
