Have you ever felt like you were going away from god insted of toward him?

For a week stright i had been studying Gods word,it seemed like i was almost where God wanted me to be. Then something happened, i felt myself going away from God insted of toward him. something is hendering me from having a closer relationship with God. I know it can only be satan,but i dont understand what tactics he's using. Who is tired of backsliding? I am. How can we stop it?

I dealt with this issue for TWO years! It wasn't Satan. It was God. I found that He will sometimes turn His face from us to force us to either seek Him more OR to fall away. It's not about testing. It's a faith issue. I was called to be an Evangelist. I am in the ministry and was then too. It was miserable thinking I could feel God's presence. But all along He was drawing me closer and closer because He had a purpose, an assignment for me. Without that time of trial I would not have been able to do what He set before me. I have been struggling with that same issue ever since I got saved on June 22, 2003. it seems no matter what I.. I can never keep reading the bible or even go to church. I read the bible for a bit then something happens and I don't read it anymore ... its almost like I lose total interest in it.. or I just totally forget about it! What can I do? I have tried praying and continue to pray.

Janet, The devil is a roaring loin seeking to rob, kill and destroy everyone He possibly can. You once belonged to him and he is angry because you now belong to Jesus. satan is a defeated foe who God hates. satan wants to laugh at everyone when they are locked in his digusting putrid pit forever. As his followers are suffering in the lake of fire always parching for a thirst where the worms never die he will be saying to them... You will never leave my presence and this pain and suffering will never leave you, while they listen and see his horror. Picture this... anything disgusting that we know of on this temporal journey will be in the bottomless pit. I believe as they have to look at his disgusting self will also inflict pain on them. Father I thank you for all the revelation you have shown me what hell can be. Whenever the first thought the devil comes to you... immediately give it to God, by taking that thought into cativity, so you will be able to be obedient to Jesus. satan is working overtime to get you back. We are in a warfare every single day. Resist his invitation everytime and cry out to Jesus who will come to your rescue. Jesus wants us to depend on Him 24/7. Cast all of our burdens daily to Him and He will carry them and make our yoke light. God has shown me to take every sin that I commit seriously as I was going to death row for life. Father thank you for helping me to hate sin more and more as I daily walk in obedience to honnor you. As one will work overtime to receive more money to gain more for themselves, we also can work overtime soaking in God's precious and very great promises, and Jesus who is faithful and true will bless His righteouess followers in the center of His will. He will make us so rich and content with His joy and peace as we obey Him and leave all the consquences to Him. Here come another year of American Idol, as we see there deep passion and hunger to win that contract that will make them filthy rich as Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood, so we also can hunger and thirst for righteouessness, which will makes us more rich than any millionaire can ever be. There is nothing like the pure joy, peace,and contentment of Jesus in our hearts. A hunger for the filthy green only allows pride to settle like concrete in our hearts. Pride is what lucifer desired to be higher than God. As we can see pride is still today satans biggest target. If someone thinks they repented of all sin... Watch out for pride which is the biggest deceiver. Anyone who is focused on themselves... whether it be self pity or look at me syndrome. We are being deceived by our proud look. How many pereachers are teaching God's precious message in pride? Way too many!! I guarantee everyone that you will find no pride in Dr. Stanley. He is a faithful humble servant who lives and experiences God's will everyday. God is using his voice to reach this dying corrupted universe. Janet all said and done satan is jealous that he lost you, and he won't be laughing at you when they are feeling his pain which God has prepared for him and his followers. Father I give you all the Praise for setting Janet free from the domain of darkness. Hello Rob!

You letters are very encouraging to me and they give me faith and strength! Thank you. I agree with you on what you say about Satan, he is like a roaring lion and alot of times I feel him around me more the my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ .. is this normal? I sometimes get urges to murder.. I mean at times the urges and the detailed visions are very scary but Praise God I have Jesus because I am able to fight the devil in the name of Jesus. I believe I got those urges from being in the occult. the Vampirism/Witchcraft and Satanism. It makes it very hard to walk with Jesus at times. I have changed so much since I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior .. I really have and it amazes me all the time I am a different person. I don't wear black all the time.. i am not drinking or doing drugs..I dont walk the streets at night.. nor do I do rituals .. drinking blood.. cutting myself. Jesus took all that away and gave me a New Life in Him!
I have been hurt by a Pastor and Christians in the past and that makes me very afraid to trust people at church or to be prayed over. My roommate Jamie she got saved at the same time I did and was in all the same things as I.. She is a great friend and prays with me at times. I still feel I have some hate and anger in my heart which I am trying to get out. it can be so hard as I know you know this.

I like Dr. Stanley .. he has wonderful teachings.. its just that I fight so much in my head with Satan and his demons. I get nightmares when I read the bible a bit and I pray and plead the blood of Jesus over me. of course I am not perfect and I still sin like we all do.

You have wonderful letters .. I love reading them Rob.. you are a true blessing to me. I thank Jesus for you. Tomorrow is church day and I really want to go but the struggle to go is great!

God has shown me to hate sin, like He does. I was using death row as an example: God has shown me to take every sin that I commit, seriously as I was going to death row. He has shown me my sin is literally spiitting in His face. SIN nailed our precious creator to the cross. Father I thank you for the revelation that you have given me on sin. Sin is drinking the putrid sewer water that flows through hell. Sin is ugly, disgusting and keeps me relationally dead to your precious presence. Janet, it is hard to fight satan in your own strength. It is impossible. It definitely wasn't easy for Jesus. He was tempted at all points, just like we are. Lets walk in His charater that is written in Gal 5:22 Phi 4:9 Col 3:12 2Pet 1:5-8 in His strength Phil 4:13 Isa 41:10. God's perfect Word is cleansing. Ps 119: 9,11 Janet I guarantee you if you make a commitment to Him to wake up every morning to spend time in His word and pray in faith you will see Him take the devil out of your way. When He opens my eyes for another day to serve Him for His glory... I greet Him with the love and faith He has granted to me. I set my day in stone to trust and obey Him no matter what the outcome is. He desires to give you His best to be filled with the knowledge of His will and all of His spiritual wisdom and understanding. The attached file is a Word document containing a prayer that I've found to be very effective in combatting Satan and his attacks. There is nothing magical about it. It is just taking Scripture and applying it to our mind.

Someone gave me this a long time ago and I keep coming back to it again and again. It may be a good thing to pray every day.

We can overcome the devil and all his schemes by standing on the word of God.declaring the word of God in our circumstance and having faith.Remember the word tell us that the battle belongs to the Lord. Since you asked.... There's a very strong spirit of slumber. There's different kinds of sleep. Physical sleep and spiritual sleep. The spiritual sleep is like a lethargy or apathy. (Rev. 3:14-22). The Laodiceans were neither hot nor cold, a lot of apathy. Jesus said if they overcame that they could sit on his throne with him. That's a big promise.

Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. When we resist, it must flee. Since satan does not want you to read the Word, you could find your favorite bible verses and write them on a piece of paper. Philippians 4:13 Would be a great verse. Read 2 Thessalonians 1:5-12. Read the bible out loud. Resist! He will flee.

Never under estimate the power of the spoken Word of God. The Word of God is more sure than the sun coming up in the morning. (Mark 13:24-32) That's why satan would try to distract us from reading the Word.

Each time I feel Satan trying to step in and and steal Gods Glory or trying to put road blocks in my way of doing what God wants me to do, I rebuke him in the name of Jesus. It works for me.

I can relate to that that devil will try to hinder all of God's people any way he can. But we are more than conquerors. I think when that happens it simply time for the child of God to go into spiritual warefare and to pray without ceasing. There are strongholds that need to be bound but we find out what they are through fellowship with the Spirit. The word of God tells us to submit to God (first) resist the devil and he will flee. We also have to continuously declare the promises of God over our lives and the blood of Jesus. Lastly to declare the word of God against that devil we need to assault him with that mighty sword that we have for the weapons of our warefare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.
