Here the picture shows sin is like a wall separating man from God, the Light of Jesus shines through a cross-shaped door, shining upon all who will enter by His mercy and grace. The ladders represent man's false religion and sophisticated ideas, which ultimatly fail compared to the simple childlike faith displayed by a child holding the nail pierced hand of Jesus.
