Does God accept excuses or hold each person responsible for their actions?
From Gen 3: 14-19, it is obvious that God deal/hold each person responsible for their actions. Thus notwistanding the excuses of Adam and Eve in Gen 3:8-13, God did not accept those excuses but went on to curse them individually. It was not a matter of who initiated what, but rather God held each one responsible for his/her actions and cursed them accordingly beginning from the serpent to the man.
Clearly if God compromised their excuses He would not have cursed Adam and Eve but instead deal with the serpent (devil) for the deceit. But that wasn't the case and in as much as He (God) did not compromised the excuses of this first couple on earth, this generation should expect nothing but the same.

God clearly holds each individual responsible for their own actions and demonstrates that actions have consequences as all of them were 'punished'. The serpent sentenced to having to slither on the ground, Eve to have to go through childbirth and Adam to work for everything he gains.
I'm not sure about Q4 but I am reliably informed by experts that if a snake bites a man's heel he will almost certainly die without treatment and if the man stamps on the snake's head he will crush it and the snake will die. Therefore if we crush the head of the snake, or in other words keep our eyes and hearts focused on God, the serpent (devil) will die because he will have no power over us. But he keeps catching us off our guard...
