All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Has anybody read any of Soren Kierkegaard writings, Danish philosopher, from 1800's?
He was a Christian theologian and philosopher of his era. He taught existentialism from the viewpoint of a Christian. He refuted the teaching of the church, saying Christ followers should be deeply committed to Christ in their walk with the Lord. Clergy should teach churchgoers to have deep and passionate relationship with the Lord. Apparently this was not taught. Churchgoers ought to reach out to those suffering human fraility(homeless, weak, sick, etc...) but instead they are more concerned with fashion and social status.
That was the 1800's. Ironically and amazingly.....still applies today...heh?

Good books by Kierkegaard:

Pamela,

Love what you wrote up above and I am blessed to make your acquaintance through this means.

An awesome place to read more about Kierkegaard is found at :http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/kierkegaard/

"Søren Aabye Kierkegaard (b. 1813, d. 1855) was a profound and prolific writer in the Danish “golden age” of intellectual and artistic activity. His work crosses the boundaries of philosophy, theology, psychology, literary criticism, devotional literature and fiction. Kierkegaard brought this potent mixture of discourses to bear as social critique and for the purpose of renewing Christian faith within Christendom. At the same time he made many original conceptual contributions to each of the disciplines he employed. He is known as the “father of existentialism”, but at least as important are his critiques of Hegel and of the German romantics, his contributions to the development of modernism, his literary experimentation, his vivid re-presentation of biblical figures to bring out their modern relevance, his invention of key concepts which have been explored and redeployed by thinkers ever since, his interventions in contemporary Danish church politics, and his fervent attempts to analyse and revitalise Christian faith."

Because He is known as the father of existentialism he is shy away from by some in the family, but as you brought up, He of course did it from the Christian perspective.

Be Blessed!
