All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

When I say I am a Christian

When I say… “I am a Christian”

I’m not shouting “I’m clean living”

I’m whispering “I was lost”

Now I’m found again.

When I say… “I am a Christian”

I don’t speak of this with pride.

I’m not confessing that I stumble

and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say… “I am a Christian”

I’m not trying to be strong.

I’m professing that I am weak

And need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say… “I am a Christian”

I’m not bragging of success.

I’m admitting that I have failed

and need GOD to clean my mess.

When I say… “I am a Christian”

I’m not claiming to be perfect.

My flaws are far too visible

but, GOD believes I’m worth it.

When I say… “I am a Christian”

I still feel the sting of pain.

I have my share of heartaches

so I call upon HIS name.

When I say… “I am a Christian”

I’m not holier than thou.

I’m just a simple sinner
who received GOD’s good grace, somehow

True Christianity is, as you say, to be Jesus' hands and feet on earth and to walk in love irrespective of the turmoil that happens around us. For us to achieve this goal we need to die to the flesh and be less aware of who we are as humans and more aware of who we are in Christ.

You are quite right about living the Bible. Someone once said that an apple tree would not need to have a sign to indicate that it was an apple tree. Similarly we as 'Jesus followers' should be known by our fruits. We should spread the Gospel by the way that we live our lives. We are sometimes the only Bible some people would come into contact with. The need to spread God's word is not a requirement to be saved, but rather a passion of our hearts once we are saved and is an act of praise and worship. We are saved through God's grace alone.

Hi there
Thank you for speaking. I agree with what you say, we need to take up our cross and crucify our own flesh and desires focussed on our own goals and rather focus on God's calling in our lives.
