The Ten Commandments and the Torah is the foundation for the teachings that Jesus gave us.He is the fulfillment of the Torah.Don´t think that he came to abandon the law, but to fulfill it.The New Covenant is this, that the Law, through the Holy Spirit has been written in our hearts.

Those that despise the Old Testament are false prophets.

I don't believe God wants us to abandon the 10 commandments; he just wants us to understand that without following Christ that we cannot be saved, even if it where possible to follow all commandments and laws. The one and only true way is through Jesus Christ, and if we have faith in Jesus Christ, are hearts are softened to his seed of truth and he lives in us and we act on behalf of our lord.

Coins have two sides and an edge. In the same way, The Bible's teachings tend to have multiple aspects. Leaders tend to emphasize one side or another at various times. But there is a balance in Scripture.

Paul was not against the OT Law or the Ten Commandments. He frequently based his teachings on them. See especially Romans 3:31. But can anyone be saved and be acceptable to God by trying to obey the Old Testament Law and the Ten Commandments? See Romans 3:19-28; Galatians 2:15-21.

Paul was an Israelite. See Philippians 3:4-6. Did he believe that he or any other believer in Christ was subject to obeying the Old Testament Law and the Ten Commandments in order to be saved and be acceptable to God? See Romans 7:1-6; 1 Corinthians 9:20-21; Philippians 3:7-11; and Hebrews 8:13.

Paul balanced his statements on Christian freedom with a call for responsibility. Responsibility is another side of his teachings about Christian freedom. What did he say about using God's grace and not being subject to obeying the OT Law as excuses to sin? See Romans 6:1, 12-23; Galatians 2:17-18; 5:13-25.

Very good there Bob!

It´s a balance in this and we know we must have the law as a foundation to stand on even if the grace leads us to true salvation.
The Ten Commandments though, brings forth true freedom, otherwise the sins and lawlessness would take over completely.

Your brother in Christ,

Mattias
