What verse is that? It sounds like the "prosperity gospel" to me, not the real Gospel. The Bible does not promise earthly abundance. Jesus offered something much more valuable, eternal life.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." James 1:2-3

"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!" Galatians 1:6-9

"Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve." 1 Corinthians 15:1-5

This was simply meant to inspire someone, had nothing to do with money, that's the problem with some super spiritual people,I don't recall anywhere it says that abundance had to apply to wealth. Jesus when He really wanted to get his point across, spoke in parables, we need to concentrate on reaching the lost at any cost.

While I must agree that the word "deserve" may have been an unforunate choice , your point is well taken. It's true that we deserve nothing less that hell itself. And except for the grace of God alone I am firmly convinced that I would be there today.

However, what I meant about your point well taken is that we many times will fall short of what God wants to bless us with because we are not willing to humble ourselves before Him. It's not that we deserve it, it's just that He offers us much more. And I am NOT referring to financial blessings though I would be foolish to rule that out.

The abundance I believe that Jesus offers is His unconditional love, the "peace that passes all understanding" , His constant fellowship and guidance and a "blessed hope" for our future. These are treasures that are beyond any wealth
( in the financial sense ) that we could ever have.

So in that sense we are falling short of what God wants us to have ( again not necessarily financial) simply because we won't humble ourselves and receive on HIS terms. God takes care of my financial needs, gives me His peace and hope, yet I know that there is a closer walk and a deeper depth I can go in my relationship with Him , but I need to yield and humble myself more to get there. So that's where I'm settling for less than He wants me to have.

God bless you my friend.

Guys thanks for clearing the air,and I will definitely choose my words alittle bit more carefully. Because I Love God with all my heart and soul and one of the most important things that I can do in this life is try to make people feel better about themselves and in turn this fills me with Joy. I DO NOT CARE FOR THE PROSPERITY MESSAGE THAT I HEAR MOST EVANGELIST AND PREACHERS SPEAK ON but they will have to pay an account for themselves in the last day. Col (3) 17 And whatever you do,whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the LORD JESUS, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Thanks again for the comments I was blessed through them
