All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I am concerned when I get messages like this in my inbox This message below came from a person who is a member of All about God.

No wonder the world is in the mess it is, with so many people starving to death every day. Millions of kids on the streets with no one to love them.

So called Christians turning the Bible around so they can live the way they want and not what God wants
Time and time again they turn the Bible round to suit their way of living.
Now it is tithing and giving.

NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE does it say NOT to tithe or give. For a start there are 209 scriptures in the Bible to help the poor and needy, to give to help God’s little children.

Yes some Churches and ministers abuse tithes and spend it on fancy church buildings etc, but many spend on outreach, a band to worship God, and send some for mission work.

NO TITHES AND NO GIVING IS SPREADING AMONG CHRISTIANS I HAVE SEEN THIS WITHIN MY OWN MINISTRY. IF IT CONTINUES THERE WILL BE ONLY A VERY FEW LEFT.

GOD’S WORDS “ THE ROAD TO HEAVEN IS VERY NARROW. GOD KNEW FROM THE BEGINNING, AND IT SADDENS HIS HEART.

BELOW IS WHAT CAME IN MY IN BOX:-

The new covenant (death of Jesus Christ) has come to cancel the former commandment (commandment of tithe) because of its weakness and unprofitableness (Hebrew 7:18).

Remember when Jesus Christ was alive; the old covenant was not canceled. Mark 1: 41- 45). It was His (Jesus Christ) death stops and cancels the old covenant (Ephesians 2:15) therefore Christians people has Jesus as the Lord and saviour, are not to pay or receive tithe. The Law of tithe was cancelled by the death of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So if you receive or pay tithe you disrespect the death of Jesus Christ and therefore the question is are you a Christian?

Boldness is Beautiful!

Just some thoughts, Jesus fufilled the law and are we not to uphold the law?
Nothing we can do gets us to heaven but would God smile if we tithe? Am I not here to glorify God? Wouldn't it help the church (us)? Would we not profit by the communion of unity in every kind of worship. Isn't every act of kindness an act of worship?
These are all questions just to ask ourselves. Our God looks at the heart and if you are a cheerful giver (no matter the amount) and giving from the heart. God smiles! Also if your neighbor is in need and you help, (even the church) you are always blessed by the Best God. To tithe or not to tithe? Would this not be a matter between God and the believer's heart? Another question....did Jesus tithe?

God Bless whoever reads, God loves us so much!

Maybe you can help the person who sent you that message by quoting this scripture: "Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven..." (Mathew 5:19)

It seems the person who sent you those words is in need of some better understanding about what Jesus' true purpose was, and still is. Maybe you can help him/her. Confusion is an unpleasant state of existence. We all need a little help coming into understanding from time to time. Lord bless us. :)

Thank you yes this person needs help. I have seen a number of web sites coming on line of late all trying to do the same. The devil is at work and must be kicked hard by Good Christians like you. This person sent out that message to over 45 people this time, how many before ? It is sad to say that there is a lot of rubbish among the good stuff on the Christian net today. It took me 5 months of long hours of hard work to find the Good for my new on line Christian magazine which contains true Christian contents.
I will do my best to show this person the right road., but concerned about the damage he could do to new believers.
God bless you all

YES look at Jesus teaching. He was concerned about the thousands that came to hear Him, His concern was to feed them as well, He did not want them Hungry. He was concerned all the time about the poor and those in need. Two of His Disciples' jobs was to feed the needy. One was appointed to collect money to meet the needs of His Ministry.

Did he not teach us this in the Bible ? Or Did He Say " When I die don't bother ? Giving pleases God second to salvation, if you do not give. No one can sow seeds, no one cannot feed the poor and needy. If no one gave then you could not even have a web site like this one.

Anyone with a beginning level knowldge of the bible would not believe such a blatant misinterpretation of the scriptures. I do sincerely understand your concern about funds for church work if new christians are unduly influenced by such e-mils as you receieved. There are many who want to be identified with Christianity but are unwilling to sacrifice anything. And I don't mean simply the tithe or offering. When scriptures are presented concerning giving God will reach the heart of those who are seeking His will for their lives.
I think that some of these attacks are aimed at preachers who perhaps spent an untoward amount of time speaking on tithes. Before I move on to my next item on this I want to make it unmistakeably clear that I am NOT refering to you as I know nothing about you and have no reason to think any such thing. I'm simply saying that this type of attack will appeal to people who have seen too much of the prosperity preachers who live like movie stars.
There are so many scriptures that support giving in the New Testament church that arguments such as those presented to you could only effect new converts and half-hearted or 'worldly ' christians.

In the New Testament, I'm sorry I could n't locate the exact scriptures, Paul speaks of having the ' right ' to have the church take care of him but bore testimony to the fact that he worked with his own hands to provide for him and his people and to not be a financial burden to the church.
I pray that God will give you the assurance always that He will provide the means too accomplish His objectives in spite of any and all opposition. The scriptures even bear record that God sometimes blessses the unsaved so that they may bless His people. Again I apologize for not having them but I will look them up if you need them. God has provided for me for over 30 years without fail. I believe that is because I have been faithful to give to the ministry as well as the tithe.
I'm not saying that to brag about my faithfulness, but to boast of God's faithfulness to those who honor His word. When He says He will bless obedience He does just that. He has met my needs is some really creative ( no pun intended) and 'unusual' ways. Every time I wonder how He will provide ,He provides in a way I would never have thought of. I believe He's trying to tell me not to worry about how He will provide, butrather to just have the confidence that He will provide.
I pray that you stay faithful to preach about giving in it's proper place and let God deal with the e-mail garbage . He's got ways of dealing with them. I pray that God will bless and prosper you as you present His word in all it's purity and truth to this world that seems to want no part of it. Stay faithful to the Lord and He will always be faithful to you.

God bless you.

Be bless in jesus Our Lord & King

hmmm interesting...
I understand the philosophy they are talking about..however that would cancel out all of the previous laws, such as the ten commandments also.

If the new covenant now is that we aught love the lord our God with all our hearts and all our minds and all our strength, if the new covenant now is that we aught love our neigbour as ourselves....

Then by the power of the Holy Spirit within us that causes us to truely fulfill the laws of age, it causes us to bare the fruits of the spirit...
Then would it not be in our hearts to give?
The pure logic that money and things of posession are neccessities for our function in this life, that they can be used to greatly bless, if we are to be obedient servants serving with our mind body and soul, then part of that is giving of what we have in life.

The simple question...would a brother deny a brother if he held food in his hand and his brother was hungry? would that seem to be something that Jesus in his nature showed for us to do in his example?

We do not always know the need, or of whom is in need, so we give of what we have that it may be shared or added together to bless those that are.
Remembering the greater need of all is the need our soul has for salvation.

Also in the word, should not you be paid for your work?

Mercy777 put it beautifully "Every act of kindness is an act of worship." I am not very bible savy, but I do believe that when you help others (even the church) you are blessed by God. I also believe that tithing and offering is a choice that we must make individually. If you give with an unhappy heart, you might as well keep your money. The church I attend is a missionary church and we help many people with day to day needs, especially children. If we stop helping the church many people will be affected by our choice. The person who sent you this email seems to be confused and we as christians should keep them in our prayers that God will reveal Himself to them and help them understand the meaning of "helping one another." God Bless

I am confused about tithing as well. I mean does it have to be to a church, or when we give to others in need is that considered tithing as well?
