Hi Debra, one way is thru knowing He keeps His promises in the bible. He promises, in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness". God does not break promises; actually, they are more than mere promises as we define them, they are His Word.

I felt exactly the same way, I often wondered does God really forgive me especially for all the things that I have done and all the bad decisions that I made in my life? I was talking with my mom about this a while back and she told me this " If God can forgive Paul who persecuted his people, he surely can forgive you" She was not trying to compare me with Paul or anything, she was saying that he forgives everyone. I just talked with a friend of mine recently on the subject of forgiveness and she also provided me with some good insight on it. This is one of the areas I struggle in spiritually, wondering whether or not I am truly forgiven. Like everything else in life, I just have to condition my mind to start truly believing and accepting it.

We're never alone. If we walked perfectly 24-7, we wouldn't need our saviour. Jesus Christ has something we need. He is the way to God. He's our completeness. He is faithful and just to forgive us. (1 John 1:8-9)

A key to walking with God...If you should stumble, pick yourself up. Walking is a learning process.
