All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Hi everyone, I need guidance

The other day, I discovered my son listens to a band
called Iron Maiden. They have a song called Number of the Beast. Are this band
Satanists? Should I keep the CDs away from him? Who else should I stop him listening to?

I've seen band names such as Cannibal Corpse and Rotting Christ, and I am shocked
at the album names and the album covers. What if Iron Maiden leads him into these
filthy and sacreligious bands?

Another thing I found hidden in his room recently was a huge stash of pornographic
magazines and DVDs, including some very violent cover images. I have not yet
confronted him about these, as I am not sure how to go about it.
I feel guilty as I too used to lust towards women before I accepted Jesus into my
life, I pray that the son who the Lord has given me does not fall under Satan's clutches

I am praying well and feel great guilt for what I have let him become, so please brothers
and sisters, I most humbly ask for your help to lead me back into Jesus's arms

I sometimes wonder if God is punishing me, and have I done something wrong? I need your guidance

Bless you,
A concerned parent and brother in Christ

Hello Concerned Parent,

I'm so sorry that you are going thru this rough patch with your teen. My children are not yet at the teen years...but they are plagued with enough garbage in their own age groups...stuff that will lead to things as teens.

I can't comment on the Iron Maiden personally, because I don't know about them personally. But my thought is that you have been discernment regarding this. I believe that sometimes God will show us something so that we can pray about it...This verse has helped me thru such times as this. If you tear it out of your kids hands (expecially as a teen) it may cause more rebellion.

Zec 4:6 Then he said to me, "This is what the LORD says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD Almighty.

Hand this one over to the Lord in prayer and let Him handle it. Continue to pray without ceasing. The thing is (and this is hard to hear) but you can't make your son accept Jesus as Savior...he has a free will that God has given him...and he must make that choice himself. I hope that this has helped you somehow.. Pray for wisdom and discernment. Try not to act out in anger. When we act in anger with our kids, it causes them to be sneaky, because they don't want to get in trouble. The Holy Spirit will guide you.

Anyhow, like I said, I don't have teenagers (YET--YIKES) but I feel your pain.. PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!

God Bless you as you stand strong...
In His Great Love, Carla

Brother,
Like others recommended, start praying and then try not to worry too much, I know it's hard but sometimes when we worry too much we tend to act out of that emotion or anger.

I say you need to talk to him about it lovingly, yes without anger or judgement, but before the talk please pray about it for couple of days, let the Lord lead and guide you. Continue to pray without giving up even if there is no sign of change, Lord will work.

And brother please don't think God is punishing you, not at all. Those are thoughts from our enemy trying to get us to be mad at God. Think of the situation this way, your son is just like all the other guys out there that go through this season of life, where ignoralty we get into these stuff.

I thank God that He allowed for you to find this out now and you know the Lord to get help for this situation. Lord is with you brother, no worries and He loves you very much.

Keep us in the loop. talk to you soon. God bless!
