Helllllp ... Children Questions

Hello ... OK .. Ive never done this before so .. if I sound a bit umm ...lost .. please accept my apologies.. ok .. So I'm a Vey, Very new Sunday School Teacher .. not to mention Christan .. and every week the girls ( 3rd & 4th Grade) give me a question thats on their minds and we all research it and come Back next week and discuss what we've found ... this weeks Question is .. Does God have Parents !! lol .. sounds funny .. but they're serious .. alot of their parents dont come to church .. They send the kids to get them outta their hair for a few hours .. so my girls .. well they dont have alot of reasons to believe all this God stuff as some of them put it ... anyways .. They wanna Know if God has parents .. if he created everything ... who created him .. did he create himself .. so on and so on .... arrrrg ... the only thing the My pastor and I have come up with is .. No .. God does not have Parents .. He is God ... But we Dont know How God came to be .. if we knew everything about God .. He wouldn't be The ALL Powerful, Awsome God that he is. .. Ive thought about the part in the Bible when Jesus told the Diciples to go and get the donkey and if the owner asks what they are doin , they were to tell them that it was for the Master .. But I'm not sure if they'll get that ... Or when God was asked his Name and He says .. I AM ... but .. still .. not sure they'll get that ........ Ive got to somehow get them to understand Faith .... He is because .. he is !! ... blah .. can anyone help me find the words to help them understand ?????????

Greetings Diana from Miami Fl. I am Alfred, Youth minister in the church I call home. I have been working with kids for about 10 years now and started as a sunday school teacher also. Tough job! I found out that all the questions went out the window when they met Jesus. What I mean by that is I introduce them to the presence of God during worship and let them feel God first hand. Once they know He is real then the questions change from doubting inquries to reverent quriosity. I still find myself asking the why/how question and get the same answer every time "I Am that I Am". My hope is in Him and my faith is steady. I dont know how the micro chip work but I know it works. I have faith in it to tell me when my truck is low on gas. I trust it so much that I will drive accross country knowing that before I run out of gas it will warn me. Dont know how...just know it work. Faith works!!! Trust God to do it and your faith will never waver. Trust in your own abilities to do it and it wont get done. Faith is somthing that must be tried in order to grow. Are you in the fire? Is your faith in God and your conviction to serve Jesus under fire? What can I do you say. Trust in the word of God and if you just believe. All things are possible to him that believeth. Ok I know starting to sound like a Sunday serman. Be encouraged and know that God is in love with you and He wants the best for you. More to come. Be blessed my sister. Oh yeah forgot to mention, once lived in Atlus OK for a few years. Hows the tumbleweed?

I know your pain. You have courage to take on teaching children. You must actually ask God to give you the strength of faith, mind and body to accomplish your goal. God will provide if you ask. There is a great series of books on how to answer questions from kids.
There are 3 books that I know of:

"Amazing Questions kids ask about..."

1) Heaven and Angels, 2) God, 3) the Bible

It's done up by Tyndale. There are 4 authors:
David R. Veerman, Daryl J Lucas, James C. Wilhoit, James C. Galvin.

You may also find these useful in your volunteering with kids.
