Seven Day Creation Story

I'm a little confused about the whole Creation story - Catholics believe that it didn't actually take seven days, that it really took billions of years. What do other Christians believe?

In this passage are important ideas that if the reader is not careful can be overlooked. There is good reason that this is the first book of the Bible. As was pointed out there is a glimpse in this text into who God is. The structure used in this passage will occur throughout scripture and is sometimes confusing; it can help to write down in outline form the thoughts presented; who is speaking to whom, what the reference point discussed is, thus is making it easier to spot this style when used in a passage. The style comes from the sound and rhythm of the Hebrew language, always remember this is a translation into English and some of the ideas expressed are not carried over from the Hebrew.

Just so it is clear I never said that I belived in evolution. As a matter of fact I do believe in the six days of creation and one day of rest. But I don't know how long a 'day' was measured by God. Was it twenty four hours long, was it thousands of years long, or was it a fraction of a second long?

What I don't agree with is people saying "I am right, you are wrong and you will never get to Heaven because of how you believe." God did not give us a third eye to look into peoples souls. I can not judge others and I don't want to be judged by others. What I want is to be able to look at others belief system and listen to them with a open mind. Maybe I will gleam a diamond from what they are saying, maybe not. The Bible allows me to accept a person if they are belivers or not. And MY belief is that what we need to accept others even if we don't agree with their beliefs. As a Christian it is my duty to let my light shine and not to hide it under a bushel.

This one subject has people coming at it by many different directions. Which one is right and which one is wrong, I don't know. Maybe we all are right and wrong at the same time. It doesn't really matter as long as we belive in God,
Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The question is now, how many of us got angry/upset because of different views of the same subject? And as I said in an earlier post what diffrence does it REALLY make if it was six days or sixty billon years, we are here because of God and all glory goes to HIM.

Well my sister don't be confused the common unsaved world thinks rabbits lay eggs on easter.We grew up and found out that satan clause did not come down chimneys.Now let us reason together if you are trying to serve a mighty God, Ask Him into your life and He will answer all questions and Give you the best teacher in the world the Holy Spirit.Who bears witness to all truths.Amen!!! I just passed by, and want to ask you this, where the world belong, to science or to God?

If you answered it belong to "Science", then believe that the whole creation and all other things coming from Science. Then, let all these things can be explain by science.

If you answered it belong to "God", then i tell you that "Science" also to belong to God.

We use our own thought to what we believe in coz we have a freedom to chose.

Just want to remind you/us that life is straightly going forward and not backward, try to ask this one, what should i/we do when the Son of God return?

up here.So I read all of the replies to this Discussion and I believe the Holy Spirit
is speaking through me. This is an unimportant waste of time. God has always kept secrets from us! If we knew all of these things, why would we need to be faithful
to Him? We are to pray for wisdom! We are to tell the Gospel of Christ to all! He

Read Genesis 1 and two . What did you read Look at 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth , and all the host of them, were finished. v.2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. v3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work God had created and made.

Remember the 10 commands from Moses...Keep the sabbath day...which day is the Jewish sabbath? Saturday. My point is Jews keep a day to a week to a month to a year.

7 days is 7 days so the evening and the morning is a day

Genesis 1:
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created [fn] the heavens and the earth.
Gen 1:2 The earth was empty, a formless mass cloaked in darkness. And the Spirit of God was hovering over its surface.

That theory simply can't hold up because God's Word says that the earth was formless and empty before HE created it....

Likewise one could argue, as the JW's do, that God exists in a unitarian relationship with respect to himelf - that would explain the theory that the pagans have, which denies the Trinity.

Or maybe we should adopt a polytheistic view of God, as the mormons do - after all, that would explain what the Hindus have been saying all along.

The only problem with the hypothesis is that it aint what Scripture teaches.

I have often wondered what exactly the theistic evolutionists have in mind. Theistic evolution is simply a resolution to a problem which no longer exists. The evidence simply does not support evolution, in the sense of universal common descent. Thus, I do not see a need to propose an explanation for any discrepancy as far as that is concerned.
