Hello Yoel, I know you posted this four months ago, but I had not heard of the BEMA before I read your blog.. You say every believer will face the BEMA, (judgement seat of Christ), and should prepare for it. I have looked up and read all of the bible verses you have quoted…and you say ‘For the result of the BEMA please read 1Cor 3:15 ‘If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved: yet so as by fire. This verse is not clear to me!!!

I believe that when Christ is truly working within us, we are motivated by the Holy Spirit, not by rewards, and we of ourselves merit no rewards. It is Christ's work in us that merits us reward for our labours. Should we get a reward for the Work Christ did on our behalf? All credit goes to HIM! (Yet HE chose to use us to work through.)

Ephesians 2:10 "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

1st Corinthians 15:10 "But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."

How then would we stand before the Bema seat being judged for doing good things which we cannot 'honestly' take credit for? Because Christ moved us to do that which we in our 'sinful nature' would never do?

Romans 3:12, There is none that seeks after God, there is none that doeth good, no not one.

We have to be moved of God to do good. Thus we find that we do accomplish good after we are Saved. But it is 'only' because the Spirit of God is now dwelling in us, making us His habitation, making us perfect in every good work. What reward does a perfect man receive? How many rewards shall he lose for imperfection?

Revelation 22:12 "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." ‘EVERY MAN’ (not every Believer), shall be rewarded according to his own work, whether good or bad.)

I have a friend who truly believes in ‘Rewards’ and different levels in heaven etc. Is this biblical? I sure would appreciate clarification on this topic. Maybe LT or someone else can make help.

In Christ,
MaryAnn

Dear MaryAnn; I have not heard of the BEMA; but after reading 1Corinthians 3:15, and studying my application, this is what is derived from the study: (and to understand it you really need to put 3:10 - 15 together).
Two sure ways to destroy a building are to tamper with the foundation and to build with inferior materials (I take this to mean that the foundation was not of strong faith. And the materials where not costly to that person of weak faith). The Church must be built on Christ, not on any other person or principle. Christ will evaluate each minister's contribution to the life of the church, and the day of judgment will reveal the sincerity of each person's work. God will determine whether or not they have been faithful to Jesus' instructions. Good work will be rewarded; unfaithful or inferior work will be discounted. The builder (priest), "will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames" means that unfaithful workers will be saved, but like people escaping from a burning building. All their possessions (accomplishments) will be lost.

If you read from 3:10, Paul is referring to those who go out to start churches. That they need to build their foundation on Christ. Not on the glory for themselves. So I think it is saying; if we are teaching others, it must be faith based on Christ or our works will be "burned up" (no good).

Think about it: how many go out to start a disciplship, and then their ego's take over, they begin to strive for the wrong things (these materials) are what will parish. Just as John the Baptist was always pointing to Jesus and never making himself bigger than the Lord. It is the way the Word should always be taught. Not placing anything above God.
Maybe LT or some others with more Bible knowledge can lend their thoughts; but I hope this helps. Go back and read from 3:10 -15

Mandy,

I think you gave a very solid answer on the topic. I only add the following. Though the text refers to one starting a church the principle applies to the life of each believer. Our works will be judged for reward. The evaluation, judging, will cover our whole life, point by point.

You are right to have included that this is not about salvation. We all need to remember that "judgment" is a neutral word, not automatic condemnation. It includes the reward side as well.

I liked this "The builder (priest), "will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames" means that unfaithful workers will be saved, but like people escaping from a burning building. All their possessions (accomplishments) will be lost."

Lord Bless,
LT

Thanks LT for your guidance, you are very helpful and appreciated. I was hopeing you would comment to see if I was indeed studying the correct way. I am really working at trying to learn scripture myself. I do understand that all of us are to be diciplishiphs, am I also thingk that though I am not a priest this would apply to me even thought I am not "starting a church" but from teaching about the Lord to others in a God loving way? I do beleive it would apply to anyone desireing to teach the Word. Therefore I am always trying to careful what I say, mostly I try to speak from the heart, since I have much to learn. Blessings to you. Love in Jesus

Hi everybody. I appreciate you all so much, and to Christ be the glory. I did look up the BEMA info on the net, and it was most helpful also.

It's just incredible how the body of Christ can come together in a helpful way so that we can all grow and learn. I have a new appreciation of God amazing love for us, in giving us each to the other in HIS marvellous creation...so thanks again everybody.

Our pastor has been telling us these past two weeks that we are priests, in that we have a responsibility to love people and share our faith.

Have an amazing day in the Lord.

Keep in mind that according to God's word, all of his children have been called to be priests, not necessarily to the office in the church, but as a result of the inner working of Christ in us. The following verse speaks to this:

1PE 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Blessings,
LT

Hi LT, Thanks, we had an interesting discussion about being priests at our 'Praise & Worship practice'...our pastor asked each of us how we felt about being called 'priests'. Most thought it was okay to be part of a royal priesthood, but did not identify with being a priest themselves. To me it is exciting and also brings with the excitement a real sense of responsibility.

Love to you dear brother,
MaryAnn

Only believers will face the Bema. At the Bema Lord is going to Judge following things of believers :- 1. Lord is going to Judge our works"Each one's work will become menifest, for the Day will declare it. because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. Icor. 3:13, Ecc. 12:14.
2. Lord is going to judge our words. "But i say to you that for every idle word men may speak , they will give account of it in the day of judgement." For by your wordsyou will be justified. and by your words you will be condemned. Matt 12:36, 37.
3. Lord is going to judge our thoughts.Matt. 15:19, 20
4. Lord is going to judge the secrets of men . Romans 2:16
5. Lord is going to judge our motives also, Right motives and wrong motives 2cor.5:14, Icor.3:21. These all things will be test by the fire of the Lord. "It will revealed by the fire.(1 cor.3:13 )
This will be the fair Judgement. At this time of Bema believres will get the rewards of their remaining works. But if any man's work shall be burned he shall suffer loss.:but he himself shall be saved ( because he gave his life to Jesus christ. Hebrews 10:17., 1John 1:9....confessed sin is forgiven and cleansed forever)
Bible does not say what that loss will be. But before going to heaven there will sorrows, Tears, because loss of the work. When one student passed his examination in higher marks , he has so much joy . But when another student passed his examination in poor marks he enter in next class with tears and he will feel so sad. But when they( who loss their works) will enter in to heaven because the blood of Jesus christ ,God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, there shall be no more death ,nor sorrow, nor crying, and there shall be no more pain ( pain of burns ) Rev. 21:4.
Some says that they will loose their reward , the reward is a crown, it will bring the shame on them who is going to loose their crown.
How to face the Bema:- Walk according the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Read Galatians 5:16-25

Thanks Yoel. Amen ! Very good explanation...

I just re-read Galations 5:16-25 as you suggested, and it spoke to me anew. The good fruit that the Holy Spirit produces is a description of our lovely Savior, and God wants us to conform to the image of HIS dear Son.

MY PRAYER: Holy Spirit again I give You permission to control and empower my life and witness. I praise and thank You LORD for all Your amazing qualities.

Love & blessings in Christ,
MaryAnn

Hi everyone, this is my very first time joining you and I have been doing some forum browsing. I have been a christian for about 12 years and had never heard of the Bema seat until now!!! I joined this net in order to grow and I can see that I will indeed. I look forward to learning more and being agitated into thinking more deeply about my walk with Christ. My heart's desire is to grow deeper and closer to Christ day by day. I am a youth leader at my church and it has showed me that I really need to grow in Him. I love Jesus so much and I do not want to lead anyone astray by my ignorance. I want to make him proud and be a light for unbelievers especially the young(er) people who are being bombarded everyday and every way by the lies of the world and satan. I had a rough time in my teen years and would love to help them now. I also have two wonderful sons 2yrs and 10yrs who I realize I have a responsibility to raise up to honour God. I am trying my best and leaving God to work out the rest. I want to be a good role model and a good friend as well to them all. To do this I have to be on the right track. Thank you all for your insights. I have learnt so much already...looking forward to learning more.
