All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Replies to This Discussion

One of the greatest things God has revealed to me about Himself is that He is the eternal God. God sees the end from the beginning that is why when the sacrificial Lamb of God was offered up it could wash away the sins of all the world, from the first man Adam to the last person born on Earth, if they would except the gift, the cure they can pass from death to life. So if this is true when Jesus died for us he paid the price for all our sin, past present and future. That is why in 1John 1:9 it says to Christians if we confess our sin He can be relied upon to forgive us and to wash us from all unrighteousness. So as Christians we come into agreement with God that what we have done is wrong, then that blood of Jesus that was shed in the eternal past cleanses us in the eternal present. This is all a little wordy but I hope the message comes through.

the cheif sin is not believing that Christ is the Messaih. we all sin, only Jesus was pure enough not to. because he was God in the flesh. I ask Jesus to train me in thinking as him, in responding to my families needs as he would, responding to my unsaved friends as he would. its only through Jesus that we can get into Heaven. and if you have Jesus keep your faith in him. we should walk by faith and not by what we feel.

Yes sinners go to hell but not sinners saved by Grace. meaning if you don't accept Jesus as your Lord and savior and repent from your sins .. and you happen to die then yes you will go to hell. Not saying that I don't sin anymore, cause I do. But I am saved by His Grace through faith.. The blood of Jesus washes me clean.

Hi Carla, how you doing? am writing about the stuff you said here about not wanting to be perfect. I think that being perfect is a command that God gave us Christians("Be ye perfect as your heavenly father is perfect") just as ("Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel") is a command. I dnt see how being perfect will make you be proud as Jesus was not when he walked the earth a perfect man..
I just want this to be said here so we all can become aware of what is possible from what is not.. If we are incapable of being so it is different from the fact that God commands it and that it is very possible.. I am not perfect yet my dear so this is not a fight at all rather it is a benchmark for us Christians to guard our conduct and keep our excesses in check..
Cheers dear friend..

Hey....konceptskool....how are ya? I feel that it honors God to ask questions and question eachother, I also feel that by doing this we keep our conduct and our excesses in check. Jesus was never proud, he was always humble. We are also called to be humble Matt 11:29;Eph 4:2;Phil 2:3;Jas 4:6 & 4:10;1 Pet 3:8 & 5:6;Luke 14:11 & 18:14;Phil 2:8;. The verse you are speaking of is MAtt 5:48 How can we be perfect? --Today I am working from the NLT Life application study bible. I have other versions as well---Follow along if you like!!!

1) In character----in this life we cannot be perfect, but we can aspire to be Christlike as much as possible.
2) In holiness----we are to separate ourselves from the world's sinfullness, we are to be devoted to God's desires rather than our own and carry his love and mercy into the world.
3) In maturity----we can't achieve Christlike character and holy living all at once, but we must grow toward maturity and wholeness, Just as we expect different behaviour from a baby, a child, a teenager, and an adult, so God expects different behaviour from us, depending on our stage of spiritual development.
4) In love----We can seek to love others as completely as God loves us.

Our tendency to sin must never deter us from striving to be more like Christ. Christ calls all of his disciples to excel, to rise above mediocrity, and to mature in every area, becoming like him. Those who strive to become perfect will one day be perfect, even as Christ is perfect. The Christian life is a process of becoming more and more like Christ; 'For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.' (Roman's 8:29).

I think the important thing to emphasize during this topic, was summed up by Janet earlier; "sinners go to hell, but not those who have been saved by Grace....."(see Janet's notes above). Once you know Jesus and keep your focus on him, with hard steadfast faith and work, everything will fall into place, I don't know how your spiritual walk has been, but I have experienced that in my life, where God is at work----I have seen an unexplainable overbubbling of Joy from my kids, and experienced that myself. I have had so many numerous instances in my life that have caused non-believers and believers alike around me to say 'WOW' that's amazing, but we also need to work at our relationship with Jesus. So please be clear in your understanding when I say that I understand this is not a fight----that would be silly.

One final note: Romans 8:31-37--- Nothing can separate us from God's Love;
'What can we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else? Who dares acuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one--for Christ Jesus died for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God's right hand, pleading for us. Can anything ever separate us from Christ's Love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, "For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep."
(Ps 44:22) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us.

So as you can see I agree with you (long-winded---yup, I know). My only concern is by someone who may be going through a tough time reading this, and possible feeling rejected by everyone, that they may then feel to give up seeking Jesus as their Saviour. I fear that they might be discouraged by hearing that they have to strive for perfection. We, as Christ followers must always consider the level each person is at on their journey towards Christ----and not push them away----which is a tactic of the enemy. As I said earlier, we honor God by asking questions, and working through them, it shows we care. Empathy is also important in our communications.

I recently learned that, Yes we are all sinners and as long as we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior we do have a spot in heaven. But as we both said: "We sin everyday" the part that I recently learned is that we must repent every night before going to bed from our sinful ways and deeds and ask for forgiveness or else we wont go to heaven. Because it is God's grace and Mercy that we are saved. There are many questions on my mind on this topic. Who is right and who is wrong. What is the RIGHT answer?
