How to keep my way pure

Children of God one thing I have noticed while in th journey is that as children of God we come across challenges and situations where we found ourselves in the pit of backsliding because we feel as if God has forgotten about us and He only listen to others not to our prayers and we end up saying tha God is for certain people and not us.
I got born again in 1999 but at the time i did not understand on how to remain pure in His ways and i backslided for about 5 years. In 2005 in my first year in a university i repented and I went through a lot of challenges and some people who were not suppose to be in my life at the time were in my life, and the plan that God had for me I put it aside because of that even though the Spirirt kept telling me to leave that I did not and because of that I did a lot of things that I am not proud of and I kept on sinning while I was in the worship family in church, I did not do what the word of God required me to do and I ended up being an ordinary christian io nstead of functioning in the atmosphere of miracles. Now I am a new creation and my mind is renewed because i moved away from the things that were not suppose to be in my life and I am in a whole new dimension with God.
It is important a schildren of God to keep our way pure for us to see the goodness of God in our lives and experience His supernatural mercies and grace in our lives.

Thank you for this important discussion. You are absolutely right! Sin separates us from God. Many times, there are things in our lives which can sneak up on us.

It could be that we have very unconsciously idolized something in our lives rather than God, and without realizing it, that thing or things begin to get in the way of our relationship with Jesus. Anything can be an idol!

God is to be first in all things! I even ask the Lord what He wants me to wear....and believe me, there are many things in my closet which I cannot even look at because they have become repulsive to me.....
(mental note: still have to get rid of them)

When we stay in close communion with the Lord and continue to 'test all things', we are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. When we ask God, He shows us because He Loves us, and wants to be with us. He will not let us go! It actually is that Simple! So because of that, He responds to our cries!

Phathokuhle, I am afraid that your story is common, I do not think that it has to be so. New Christians need to be cared for just like babies. Without the care from a group of loving and caring Christians these new Christians will stumble around and try to survive as best as they can, then they have a hard time getting a footing. It should be the number one priority in a church to care for new believers. It will be the best investment we can ever give to the cause of Christ. I think it is part of God's whole purpose to raise up AllaboutGod to help new believers and believers like yourself who are trying to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
Children of God as I was reading the bible the other day I came across Col 3: 3 and I was so moved because i have read the scripture previously but I could not understand it, but now when i was reading it I got to understand that it is such a powerful scripture and it really changed my way of thinking. It says that" For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God". I realised that if our lives are hidden with Christ in God that means He protects us from all the wickedness of the world, He tells us the secrets of heaven, He guides us in everything that we do and we do not have to fear because He is always with us and our lives are hidden with Him, He directs our feet and He has assigned angels over to guide us and they give us all the attention as we walk on earth our God looks at us and He becomes proud and the word also say " If God is for us who can be against us" and we are more than conquerors and if it is all like that he will help us to keep our way pure.
Take a look at Phil 3: 13 -14, it talks about pressing on towards the goal and forgetting what is behind and straining on what is ahead, and it reminds us that if we fix our eyes on Jesus nothing is impossible in our lives and that just do it for me. So children of God keep pressing on toward what is ahead.

Amen to that. It's hard enough not having the temptations around. Keeping your life spirit filled and leaning on God is the best possible route anyone can take.

God is faithfull,HE is Loving and compassionate this is all a person needs to hear! a christian who has backsliden just needs to be loved and encourage and taught how to keep ways and life pure all we need as christians to keep our ways and lives pure is to know the relationship we have with Christ Jesus, that way it will be simpler to keep oneself for God because u know that nothing or no can get intimate with you as Christ lets learn to love one another and teach each other how to live but always remeber never to judge because it may kill afellow brethren.
