All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I'm posing this question because I don't know the answer and I want to know your opinions. Please refrain from turning this into a political debate... thanks!

Will we have to give account for our voting record in heaven? I'm going to use abortion as my example because I think it is the most clear-cut issue according to the Bible. However, I think a few other issues could apply as well.

For example:
I vote for a candidate who holds an openly pro-abortion stance. That person is elected as President. The President nominates justices who are also pro-abortion. Legislation is passed which results in millions of babies being aborted.

Will God hold me partly responsible for those abortions or may I have to give account for my choice at the Judgement Seat? Obviously, the mother and doctor will be most responsible. Will I share a portion of that responsibility?

Thoughts?

I've wondered this for awhile and I'm anxious to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I've wondered this question as well, especially with this election coming up. The higher the gas prices go, the higher the cost of food rises...wow it is really getting rough. House forclosures are the highest they have been since the 80's. i beleive we are certainly in danger of a depression here in the US.

I do think we carry a responsibility of who we vote for, and because of that I will either vote for McCain or not vote at all. But I tell ya....I'm not gonna feel good about voting for someone who I think may cause my children to go hungry at night.

I guess the best answer I can give you is to tell what what moral choice I am making. But I understand why you would question as well. I do not like Obama...I think he is at best a fraud. But I do think he would pull our economy up. Even so, I can not vote for a man who stands for abortion, stem cell research, and who refers to a man who states "I am against any God who is not for the black people" as his mentor. First off....my God is for all colors and races and secondly, there are poor white people in the country as well as black.

Oh...and...cause everyone knows Christelle hasn't figured out how to edit her comments.....

If you were to see the literal murder of a human being...and do nothing about it, even walk away with the attitude.."not my problem"...I believe God would hold us accountable. Isn't supporting a politician who supports abortion the same?

If you go to my page you can see the pics of two teenagers. I used to be very on the fence before they were born. I went into kidney failure at 30 weeks in Ca where partial birth abortions are still legal. They told me the pregnancy had to be terminated, so a specialist came into see me to discuss my options. It was a good hospital...with a great NICU so he didn't try to discourage me from keeping the twins at all..when we wheeled into the O.R. there were two NICU teams ready to fight for my babies...but after they were born and I saw them struggle for life in the NICU and grow stronger everyday...it hit me one day that this was what Ca did not consider a life...but here they were in front of me...breathing, crying, and growing...how could they not be a life? There were so many other babies there too that for one reason or another could not be carried full term...but even more amazing was the hallway to the NICU. They had huge pics all over of healthy happy kids...and in the corner of each pic was another pic of a preemie in the NICU. I tell ya...if you don't beleive life is a miracle..visit any NICU and watch the fight these babies win everyday. I even had the honor of being there when they brought in the preemie twin who they had c-sectioned to be able to save him while his twin was left in mom and went full term. It blew my mind that there are peole who dedicate their lives to these tiny little people....and isn't is sad that while they are working so hard...there are mom's just throwing it all away.

For me it is a simple decision. I look at any candidate's positions and evaluate those positions in the light of Scripture. If the positions that do not align with Scripture are critical issues I will not vote for the candidate, even if it means that I vote for no one. I cannot, as some often suggest, vote for the lesser of evils in any election. After the Biblical evaluation, then my vote will be based upon my preferences if more than one pass the Biblical evaluation.

Reasoning: My vote is an endorsement of the candidate I vote for, even if I only agree with part of their position I am casting a vote that supports their whole agenda and if elected have helped to empower them to enact that agenda.

I will give account for all of my actions some day.

My Opinion,
LT
