All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

"Then he said to me, "Write," "Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are the true words of God." Rev. 19:9

Are you convinced that the Bible is the true word of God? When you are having a problem, do you run to hear your Father's true words, or do you listen to advice from... someplace else? Or are you waiting for Him to speak in some other way? Is there another reliable source that reveals God's mind to us?

When the world speaks or when your friends speak or when a religious leader speaks, or when your own heart speaks, I would encourage all of us to have the same attitude as the Bereans in Acts 17, who were noble-minded people:

"Now these (Bereans) were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so."

These things were the things that Paul was saying to them. They compared his words to Scripture. They recognized an authority, a supernatural voice, God's voice, in the Word.

Do we do the same? How can we encourage each other to be like the Bereans?

Hi there Tiffany, your mail is encouraging.

Many here on AAG are Berean Christians, There can be no outside encouragement towards any one of them to become one, that would be impossible. To fulfill the rigid requirements of the position, can only be attained through a special calling of God.

To be one, requires self control, strong discipline, a good scriptural knowledge and a reinforced shield to stop darts of criticism coming from all directions.

You will be hated and loved, ridiculed and complimented, laughed at, yet respected, but above all else it is a form of Ministry to which God will have called you. Without His calling to this ministry one would crumble at the first onslaught of riducule and hate that will come in the form of belittlement.

It is a lonely path, but most rewarding, in that he is called to be the Protector of God's Word and together with the holy Spirit at his side is able to stand against those who would change it.

His every day reward is the time spent with the very Word of God - The Son - and kneeling under the protection of God's mantle, in prayer.

Thank you for your input and showing the importance of placing God's Word first and in everything that Christians would undertake or question.

Thanks for your kind response, Ron. Very interesting too, especially about the requirements for becoming someone who protects God's Word - it really does come from the Lord, like everything else.

A relative asked me one time, "what is the purpose of theology?" And I said that theologians were like guard-dogs, keeping the purity of the Scripture. Pretty neat to hear that thought echoed.

Thank you my friend,
Tiffany
